metamorphosis

Metamorphosis comes under the umbrella of the healing arts, considered the sister to Reflexology. However, it is not a traditional healing art. It is not bodywork and it does not aim to heal, relax, fix, make better or cure anything. I hear your question... what does it aim to do?

Within the principles of metamorphosis is the intention to release unconscious stress or tension. As the underlying tension is unconscious, there is no need to focus on it or work on it or even address it directly – we don't always know what it is! This is a very subtle and profound aspect of metamorphosis – there is no pressure to be better or to change anything. You just are. Inherent in the practice of metamorphosis, is unconditional love and acceptance. As unconscious tension is released, there is more room for awareness, balance and ease to be a greater part of life. Healing can be a wonderful, natural occurrence that happens as a result. But it is not the aim. Metamorphosis is an invitation to experience a greater sense well-being and harmony in life.

When tension is present in our patterns of being, it can cause us to respond to life in extreme ways. We can sometimes withdraw from life or a situation or person and on the other hand, we can also overreact, allowing for drama and chaos to take place. Once those patterns let go, those same situations can arise and we can move through them with much greater ease.

Also within the principles of metamorphosis is vast scope it encompasses. Unconscious tension is out there in space and time. It is picked up by us through past lives and experiences from the world of thought as well as through our genetic and cultural heritage. Those patterns of tension cannot be defined as being solely physical or solely mental. To address only the physical body or to address only the energetic body would limit the outcome of the intentions that you set when working with metamorphosis. The scope is as vast as time and space.

The changes are subtle. We are still the same people, but when blocks of tension are no longer present, it creates space for us to flow more easily with a sometimes daily changing life. Once we can get our heads out of the way, it can be quite liberating.
